Williamsburg is known for the rich cultural history around every corner, but one of the most surprising aspects of the town is the abundance of great food. Healthy, locally sourced produce is layered together on your choice of bread, croissant, or bun. Even if you forget to save room for dessert, take one of their sweet treats to-go. These fresh-baked delicacies are the perfect afternoon pick-me-up.   

BBQ: Pierce’s Pitt Bar-B-Que

Since 1971, Pierce’s Pitt Bar-B-Que has been serving hickory-smoked, Tennessee-style BBQ that has turned into a cult classic over the years. This award-winning restaurant has been acclaimed by BBQ masters from all across the US. Much down on a tender pulled pork sandwich or grab a couple of racks of ribs to share with your friends or family. You’ll know when you’re getting close because the sweet smoke smell of homemade BBQ will fill your nose and make your stomach rumble. So bring an appetite!  

Seafood: Oceans and Ale

Oceans and Ale is a favorite among visitors and locals alike. Inside this seafood & steakhouse, you will find the freshest seafood executed with culinary finesse. While everything on the menu falls under our must-try list, the seafood nachos have to be one of the most unique and mouthwatering items on the menu. Corn tortilla chips are piled high with lump crab and fresh shrimp plus all the nacho toppings. French: Le Yaca

Le Yaca is one of Williamsburg’s most sought after restaurants. The first Le Yaca opened in a little skiing village in the French Alps and was an instant hit for serving some of the finest food in the region. In 1980, Le Yaca moved to Williamsburg, VA and revolutionized the restaurant scene in town. This is a popular spot for romantic dinner dates, anniversaries, and birthday celebrations, but most people don’t know about their incredible lunch menu. Indian: Nawab Indian Cuisine

On a cold autumn or winter day, almost nothing sounds better than a big bowl of Indian curry. You may not expect to find the best curry in Colonial Williamsburg, but lo and behold, Nawab Indian Cuisine is it! This intimate restaurant serving up traditional Indian dishes is a local legend. If you haven’t been here before, then the daily lunch buffet is the way to go. Sample all of their best curries and dishes for only $12-$14. Eat as much or as little as you like and figure out which dish is your favorite.  

Unique to Williamsburg: Food For Thought
