From dazzling lavender fields to a sunset beach paradise, discover the beauty of Williamsburg while creating memories with your fiance.
The Crim Dell Bridge is located on the campus of William & Mary University, and was dedicated as a gift by the class of 1964. Since then, it has become a popular spot to capture stunning shots or take a stroll through the surrounding flower-lined pathways. After taking your fill of photos on the bridge, head down to the wildflower refuge where even more incredible pictures can be taken. This lovely little oasis is perfect for an engagement photo shoot.
A step back into the past, Duke of Gloucester Street is full of rich history. Take a photo in the middle of the cobblestone streets or in front of any of the charming historic storefronts. Whichever options you choose, your pictures will have amazing character. The street is closed to motorized traffic, but you might get lucky and see a horse-drawn carriage rolling through the street. If you’re looking for an enchanting place to capture your special day, Duke of Gloucester Street is an absolute must.
It’s no secret that the beach is a great photo location, and Yorktown Beach is no exception. With loads of history surrounding the sandy waterfront, you can take breathtaking photos with the water and tall ships in the background. Consider going just before sunset for even more stunning pictures. Walk along the street lined with quaint shops and historic buildings, where there is even more opportunity to take great shots. Have an ice cream cone at Ben & Jerry’s located just across the street, and have some fun posing with the cone as you enjoy the sweet treat. The options are endless if you pick Yorktown Beach for your engagement photo destination.
The name says it all, Sweethaven Lavender is a truly special place full of the sweet fragrance of lavender. The best times to visit are between mid-May and early July. However, zinnias are blooming until late July. The blooming lavender will add a beautiful pop of color to all of your photos. A lovely white barn on the property would also be an excellent background. Sweethaven Lavender does have a photography policy, and reservations are required. For a fun location that’s both pretty and smells good, Sweethaven Lavender is a great choice to capture your sweet memories.
For the more adventurous souls, Fossil Beach is an absolute gem. The 1.8-mile loop takes you through marshy grass on a wooden pathway, to a secluded beach with washed up trees. It won’t be hard to create a story with the scenery provided. Plus, you’ll be able to get out in nature. Along the way you might discover unique shells, like the turritella snail, which is just a snippet of what the beach holds. The trail is popular amongst locals and visitors alike, so go early or later in the day – which is perfect for lighting purposes! Fossil Beach will no doubt be a great spot to create memories that you can treasure for years to come.
