Williamsburg Veterans History Project-2009

Cedars B&B Veteran History Project Package ®

At the Cedars of Williamsburg Bed & Breakfast we have a tradition of capturing our guests' special moments with pictures and video.  Over the years, we have celebrated and thanked our military guests with discounts, accolades and bottles of wine.

We now have a way to do both while commemorating their individual contributions to us and our country.  The Cedars supports this important project and believe our veterans should receive all the recognition they so richly deserve; while preserving their experiences for future generations.

Facts & Figures

Project Background - Library of Congress

In 2000, the Library of Congress in Washington, DC initiated the Veterans History Project.  The project's objective is to capture and archive first-person oral accounts along with photos, letters and memorabilia of individual veteran's experiences for future generations.

The focus of the Veterans History Project is on first-hand accounts of US veterans who served in World War I (1914-1920), World War II (1939-1946), the Korean War (1950-1955), Vietnam War (1961-1975), Persian Gulf War (1990-1995) or the Iraq-Afghanistan conflicts (2001 - present).

Those US citizen civilians who were actively involved in supporting war efforts (such as war industry workers, USO workers, flight instructors, medical volunteers, etc.) are also invited to share their stories. The Project greatly values and appreciates veterans' stories from additional combat arenas.

Cedars B&B Veteran's History Package

Our way of thanking active duty, military veterans and their civilian counterparts is with our Veteran's History package.  The Cedars offers to 30-45 minute video your favorite military or veteran.

For a two or more nights stay (at discounted military rates,) we will interview, video record and submit you or your veteran's experiences to the Veteran History Project.  As part of the package, we will also provide a CD copy of the interview to the guest.  If you have medals, commendations, photos, letters, newspaper clippings, etc., and want to included them in the package, please bring them along.
