A New Line Cinema production and directed by Terrence Malick - The New World movie is set against the backdrop of the real discovery of America-in the 17th Century Jamestown, Virginia settlement where the culture of European explorers collided with that of Native Americans. It was in this wild new frontier that English explorer John Smith developed a relationship with a young Indian princess named Pocahontas that put them each at odds with their own worlds.

The movie stars Colin Farrell and Christopher Plummer.  The entire movie was shot a few miles from Williamsburg on the banks of the James River.  It is scheduled for release in 2005.
